Georgia adopts ASME A17.1-2019 with amendments. Georgia also adopted ASME A17.3-2017 (Safety Code for Existing Elevators), which requires all existing elevators to have a Door Lock Monitoring system by January 1, 2025 per Section 3.10. Georgia's Rules and Regulations for Escalators and Elevators (Rule 120-3-25) establish the inspection framework.

Testing & Inspection Schedule
All elevators must be inspected and recertified annually per Georgia state requirements. Comprehensive inspection per ASME A17.1-2019 covering hoistway, pit, car-top, machine room, door equipment, and safety devices.
Category 1 periodic test per ASME A17.1-2019 covering no-load safety-device tests and routine maintenance verification.
Category 5 periodic test per ASME A17.1-2019 covering full-load/full-speed comprehensive safety test (full-load test).
