Oregon adopts ASME A17.1-2019 through the Oregon Building Code. Department of Consumer and Business Services, Building Codes Division administers elevator safety. **UNIQUE REQUIREMENT:** Oregon is the ONLY state requiring 6-month CAT1 inspections. All testing must be witnessed by state inspector.

All elevators must be inspected per CAT schedule. **CRITICAL: Oregon requires ALL testing be witnessed by state inspector (unique requirement).** Comprehensive inspection per ASME A17.1-2019 requirements.
Category 1 periodic test per ASME A17.1-2019 covering basic examination of essential components. **UNIQUE: Oregon requires 6-month intervals (all other states annual).**
Category 5 periodic test per ASME A17.1-2019 covering comprehensive evaluation.
